You can have a look tighvnc - it runs under Windows and Linux.

If you are using KDE, check krdc (as a client) and krfb (as a sever), I think it works with Windows VNC, too... _________________ The message is Feierei, alder! The message is Gude Laune, alder! [Sven] |

personally, from my experiance with vnc, for linux-linux, ssh -X works just fine, with less connection overhead . however, for connecting to windows, your stuck with (other apps mentioned earlier) |

Interesting about ssh -X...
Two questions:
1. Will I be able to run an 3D visualization software ParaView through ssh if client has no such program etc?
2. Isn't that easier to work with some vnc than type ssh ... from console? |

I've been using the following vnc setup with 3 other developers on 1 machine for 3 years.
It has been very solid for us:
windows or OSX client: http://www.realvnc.com/
terminal server setup on gentoo: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Xvnc_terminal_server
choose the realvnc server by doing:
