I've noticed that Ubuntu mounts tmpfs on /var/run and /var/lock.
Why does Ubuntu do this? Would there be any point to imitating it? |

well, the stuff there hardly takes up space and ram is faster than harddisk, but I doubt performance benefits are actually noticeable. Maybe it's so there's no cleaning up to do if the system shuts down, though processes should do their housekeeping themselves. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved.
