Hello,
I've recently upgraded my kernel to 2.6.24-r4 and ALSA works, but it sounds really bad. Anything I play sounds as if the speakers are blown. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have potential solutions? BTW, the speakers sounds fine in the dreaded Windows, so I'm quite sure the problem is ALSA. Here's my output from lspci:
Quote:

00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Unknown device 81b3
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 22
Memory at fe024000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [50] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask+ 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [6c] HyperTransport: MSI Mapping Enable- Fixed+
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel

So again, I get all the channels I should have in alsamixer. It just sounds bad!

Any help appreciated!

Basic check: Did you check the audio levels with alsamixer?

I did, thanks. I've just tried upgrading alsa-lib to 1.0.16 and that seems to have done the trick...
