hi!
I've got some problems getting gentoo to work fine (yes there are many posts about all these things but i didn't find anything that helped me with these problems)..
1. Xfree doesn't work because my USB-Mouse doen't work. the Modules are running, but I haven't got the dir /dev/input and the files in it, /dev/mouse usbmouse or anything like that.( logitech mm dual optical)
2. I tried to make a bootsplash but I didn't find "Framebuffer-Support" in my kernel (and without framebuffer-support i have no "frame buffer devices", "vesa vga grafics console" und "use splashscreen instead of boot logo". I didn't find anything like framebuffer-blabla in der whole kernel-config. I also haven't got a /proc/splash, but I think this is caused of the Kernel options i don't find.
I've got gentoo_1.4 rc4 and i am using gentoo-sources 2.4.20r5.
would be nice to get X working...then i mustn't always boot windows to read the forum posts
[edit]
oh....i forgot 1 problem
...i also cant find devfs or anything like it in the kernelconfig ...where is it (should it be)? |

I think you'll find the 'devfs' under file systems but you'll need to turn on experimental/ developmental code support under code maturity options before you can see it.
It seems to be at the root of most of your problems as it is the item needed in order for your usbmouse device files to be created etc.

Your solved problem is in the FAQs if I am not wrong.
With a little search, I think you can find anything that you need for your usbmouse... _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." -- Calvin |

Yep, but give a man a fish and he'll have one dinner. Teach him how to fish and he will have all the fishes he can eat.

If you get a lot of search results.... refine your search....
