|
|
I'm having trouble loading the sungem modual to activate my iBook's ethernet. I am using kernel 2.4.19-r6 and the sungem driver I copied from the 1.2 iso only works with 2.4.19-r3. What to do?
Thanks,
Don |

There is a sungem module included on the 1.2 iso (and it works fine). If that doesn't load your ethernet i suggest trying different drivers. cat /proc/pci to ensure you need sungem. Also I would try tulip and other common drivers first. |

you have to rebuild your kernel, and chose sungem support (as a module or staticly, thats your choice).
afaik, the module which you have to use for your iBook is called gmac. the sungem module is used for the powerbook with gigabit nic.

Thanks guys. Polling the system returns a sungem card but I'm not sure it is nessesary, since after configuring my network settings right this time, it works automaticly even though I compiled sungem as a module.
Thanks again

If you run lsmod, you'll notice sungem is probably loaded =)
