|
|
I have a strange problem with my keyboard. When I boot into Gentoo, it works, but certain keys are mapped improperly. (The up arrow acts as PrintScreet, etc.) Unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in fixes the problem until the next reboot. I also dual-boot with Windows on this machine, and this problem does not exist in Windows. I thought this was just my old PS/2 keyboard's fault, but I got my new USB keyboard (Logitech Wave - corded, if it matters), and the problem persists, and it seems to be the same keys behaving improperly. It's only a minor annoyance that I've gotten used to, but if anyone has any ideas on how to solve this, I'd much appreciate it. _________________ "If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?" --Thomas Jefferson

After plugging your keyboard back to fix the problem, dump the keymap and load it at startup [See post]
... not quite a solution, but a workaround
If the problem persists, then perhaps its because you're loading a keyboard custom mapping program like Xmodmap, etc. _________________ Gentoo is the stick-shift of Linux.
You work it manually, it has somewhat better performance, but it's really for the fun of it. |

Loading the keymap at startup seems to have worked, thanks!
I'll comb through my startup scripts and try to find out what was causing it. _________________ "If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?" --Thomas Jefferson
