How many of you have left Gentoo only to return to find you really miss gentoo?

Share your experiences here.

I sometimes try out other distros, especially when I'm having a chronic problem with my Gentoo system.

Usually I don't even change the default settings, before I come crying back to Gentoo.

I did run a Debian server for a while, though, but for my desktop/playbox, I need my portage.

Gentoo has spent more time on my machine than other distros combined. However, I've left Gentoo for Fedora, Debian, and Arch before. I currently run Debian, but am planning on reinstalling as Gentoo as soon as the 2.6.25 kernel gets stabilized (it seems to be taking a while). Usually the other distros last somewhere between 3 weeks to 2 months before I come right back to Gentoo.

I left. But only because my hardware was so old I couldn't take all the compiling. I came back when I bought a new box. Was away for almost 2 years though, so I was a n00b again when I came back.

I am often trying other systems 'just for the fun of it' but I am soon missing features crying out one of the following phrases:
- but this is possible with gentoo...
- but this doesn't happen with gentoo as there is no crappy installer fucking up my configs
- but this is worse than the famous portage bug that killed GCC long time ago
- get me outta here back to my beloved gentoo

never left gentoo since 1.4, that was my first gentoo installation

some times i test livecds or installs on VirtualBox, or have to make some light administration of Fedora, Suse, Mandriva, even Solaris on SPARC servers (my company clients's servers), but the more distros (or Solaris) i test, the more i see how much Gentoo rocks

I'm a sysadmin of 25 servers or so for the company i work for, and only 5 are Debian (only because is a virtualise service from a company, wich only lets you install RedHat, Suse, Fedora or Debian), the rest are Gentoo servers

even my Work PC is Gentoo as my house PC
