Today my flash upgraded to net-www/netscape-flash-9.0.124.0 and I lost sound for flash videos. (Used youtube for test) I don't often play flash videos on this machine, but they worked on 9.0.115.0 just fine. (I see the ebuild dated Jan 1, 2008, and I know I've played some youtube successfully since then. I was careful to shutdown and restart firefox, in fact I tried it again doing "/etc/init.d/alsasound restart", as well. Nor do I see any special notes in the portage log.

Anyone else had this problem?

I may try regressing to 9.0.115.0, at least for the moment. I seem to remember some alsa/oss changes recently, but I just checked and the oss emulation modules seem to be there.

I too have lost sound after an emerge -u world today. I downgraded netscape-flash back to 9.0.115.0 but it did not fix it.

Double-check your volume control.

This was on my work machine, and I was out Friday, so just tried testing again. I happened to notice that the YouTube volume control was all the way down, which was not where I left it. Turn it up, and I magically had sound.

In the meantime, I had masked the upgrade on my home machines. So I'm going to unmask and upgrade a home machine and see how it goes. If upgrade goes smoothly on home machines, I'll mark this [SOLVED].

Main home machine upgraded flash this morning, no problems. Not even a volume control auto-quieted. I have 1 or 2 machines to go, and see if anyone else is still having the problem, then I'll [RESOLVED] it.

The rest of my (non-server) machines are upgraded to the newest stable Flash, with no problems. I only had the one problem that turned out to be the volume control. I'm going to mark this as [RESOLVED].
