|
|
Hi everybody,
I've got Gentoo on an Intel Core2 Quad with 4 GB RAM. I'm using -march=i686 in my make.conf since I didn't want to run into any problems with no-64 bit apps. In my kernel configuration I see two options for the "high memory support": either "off" or "4 GB". I've got it in "4 GB".
But Gentoo is seeing only 2 GB (although BIOS says there are 4, so no hardware problem here). Top says:
Mem: 2059192k total
Anybody knows how could I see all 4 GB?
And by the way: should I change my mind and want a 64bit system, how could I ahcieve that? Perhaps changing the -march flag in make.conf and recompiling the whole system? Could I expect any issues if I was to do that?
Thank you. _________________ Aquiles |

Try the HIGHMEM64G option or better use a 64 bits system. _________________ Gentoo ~AMD64

Also make sure you enable memory remapping in your BIOS if there is an option for it. |

Well, after reading your posts and the link that Dairinin provided, it seems to me that the best option will be for me to switch to a 64 bit system. Any documents out there with instructions on how to do a full switch without screwing up my system? _________________ Aquiles |
