Hi!
Mindlessly playing around with portage i really messed up my System. I think i unmerged pam-login and some other stuff because old versions of it blocked updates somehow. Like i said - i was mindlessly playing around.
Now the problem is, that i can still boot the system, but i can't login. Is it possible to circumvent reinstalling the whole system? Or at least keeping my kernel and my "/home/"-data?
I thought about booting from live-CD, chrooting to my harddisk, but i am not sure what to do then.
Thanks for your help! |

Run etc-update (or dispatch-conf) to update any config files that need updating and check the output of emerge -puD world to see what packages need to be updated. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved.
