I have tftp-hpa as a tftp server to get a network install running. I noticed I only can get it to work if I put the file world readable even though in.tftp is running as a root service. Why is that? |

The man page says the default user the process is run as is "nobody", but why does it show in the process list as being run as root? |

The service id is base on its startup script and config file. Maybe gentoo ebuild default it to root. I am not using tftp in my gentoo box now so I cannot be certain. |
