The Official Clam Wiki: http://wiki.clamav.net/Main/WebHome has not been very helpful to me, as it requires signup/login in order to SEARCH...which sort of irks me. Anyway, the recent versions of clam have allowed 'MULTISCAN' to improve performance on SMP machines and scan several files at once. This can either be put in from the command line, or from Clamd.conf.

My issue is this, the MAN page says that it can be enabled ... but does not share with us the syntax in which it should be done. I cannot find whether on the command line it should be --MULTISCAN, -multiscan, -MULTISCAN, -M, -m .... you get the idea. It also says that it can be specified in clamd.conf....but also does not share with us the format/syntax of said command.

Has anybody experimented with this and found out how it works? 2 hours is a pretty long time to scan big folders...I'm guessing multiscan could reduce that to about 40 minutes on a true quad machine.

I don't know why, but the signup for basic search functionality in a wiki just infuriates me.
