Hello,
I have several files that I can't seem to even touch as root.
WHen I stat them I get an error "cannot stat, permission denied"
And when i 'ls -la' all permissions are showing up as ?????????? ? ? ? ? ?
Any thoughts or things I could include to help troubleshoot?

That's usually a result of filesystem corruption (due to memory corruption, program error, or disk failure?) You'll need to unmount and fsck that disk first to clear up the corruption before trying to do more.
