can't log in via KDE

I can't log in through the KDE login screen anymore, however if i got to the console i can log in just fine. any help would be usefull.

Have you recently updated your system? If the new baselayout2.0/openrc got installed then you probably want to read this: Baselayout Migration The XSESSION variable was moved to a different location and that COULD be the cause of you problem.

sorry i was prety tired when i posted this. on the login screen when i type in my pasword and try to login teh screen goes black for a couple seconds and then comes back up to the login screen with no error message. I have not updated recently due to internet problems, and it has been probly over a month since i have even used the system. thanks again

after that happened please have a look at:
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
/var/log/kdm.log
