I installed v4l and recompiled and installed. When I rebooted it said sda2 not found, then i rebooted again this time with hda2 and the same thing. And then I looked in the kernel configuration and it has my drivers still there any what not. I ono whats wrong with it anymore _________________ AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ | 2GB DDR2 533MHz RAM | GCC-4.3.2 | Gentoo x86_64 | KDE 4.1.2 |

More likely, your kernel .config has both CONFIG_IDE=y and CONFIG_ATA=y which results in some driver overlap between the old and the new.
It is better to just choose one, and disable the other. |
