|
|
Is it possible to install Gentoo from the USB on a PS3? I have an Ubuntu CD from a while ago (and have it installed already, so if needed, I can get into that). But, for some reason, my CD burner refuses to finish any CD's... it'll get anywhere from 10 to 90 % and then quit....
Anyways, my question isn't about my CD burner lol. What I want to know is if it's possible to boot the Gentoo install CD (2007 ppc64) from a USB? I've tried mounting my PSP through the kboot shell, but I can't seem to find the right device (supposedly, it is sdf1 or something like that, which doesn't seem to exist). So, if thats not the right device name (and I've tried a lot of others), and if its possible to access USB through kboot shell, then which device name is it?
And if that's not possible, then (remember I do have a working Linux on my PS3 already), is it possible to download and extract the ISO and find the required files, and then in the kboot shell mount those files to something like 'mnt/tmp' and install from there?
EDIT: Also, I do mean ANY way... even if it's pretty complicated, I'd rather at least try than not know

Ok, I can get the install cd's prompt up through the USB (which is 'sdc1')... but after that comes up it seems to think that 'sda1' is the USB instead of the HDD.
So, now I can't find the HDD to partition and format it...
Also, thanks for the link, really helped so far. _________________ This isn't my sig... or is it? |
