Iptables (or I've unmerged firestarter)

Hi everybody,

I have a huge problem atm. I've unmerged firestarter , and do not have the ebuild anymore. Cause firestarter was removed from the tree, I tried to configure some rules for myself. I've followed the gentoo home router guides' part where iptables are configured. Well, it does not work as it should work. Some programes like icq, msn, irc are unable to connect to their servers. I can't read mails, cause imap seems to be blocked.

My question now:
Is there a really simple tutorial, or howto, or crashcourse where I can learn more about iptables and so on, OR

does anyone have an old firestarter ebuild?
