I am administering a machine remotely and I want to make changes to kernel config. But I am worried that there will be problems during reboot which I won't be able to fix since I won't have physical access to the box for a while. Is there anyway to make machine revert to kernel I know works in case of a problem? And any way to store boot messages to examine later? |

grub has a fallback option, but that doesn't help much if the machine panics on boot. unless you also told the kernel to reboot on panic...
cheers
edit: hmm, i don't think that would help much either, it would probably get stuck in a reboot loop. ![Confused :?](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) _________________
