Does Intel GMA X3100 work for a 3D GUI like Beryl

Hi!

I am going to buy a new computer for a Gentoo linux distribution. And I'm wondering if Intel GMA X3100 performance is enough for 3D GUIs like Beryl? Or do need to buy an external graphics card like Geforce or Radeon? I'm not going to play 3D games!

I tried it on my brother's laptop and it really works great and smoothly.. you won't get great performance for 3D games of course, but for normal desktop operations it's more than fine imho.
ps: intel provides full opensource drivers which is certainly a plus..
