Exim doesn't send AUTH PLAIN or AUTH LOGIN in EHLO response

I've installed Exim (used to be on Postfix and Courier IMAP, but Exim integrates nicer with DBMail in my opinion which is what I switched my IMAP to), however, I don't seem to be getting any AUTH stuff from my auth_conf.sub file showing up in the EHLO response. I can log in just fine though, but PHP mail libraries seem to check for this, so they always fail. Thunderbird and JavaMail seem to do just fine though. How can I get the AUTH plugins from auth_conf.sub to show up in the response?

Edit: Nevermind, in case anyone else has this problem though, I moved them from the .sub file to the authenticators section in the regular file and they show up now. I don't know whether it's because I have stuff like the exim acl stuff on or what, but if anyone does have any insight into why it wasn't displaying stuff from the .sub file, input is welcome
