slightly different interfaces and such - APM is slightly older than ACPI. ACPI has more controls,

this might do better in OTW, btw.

For certain definitions of slightly... Realistically, nothing supports APM anymore, probably the last mainstream laptops to support APM were the ThinkPad T4x series (T40 at least). Also, as mentioned above, the scope of ACPI is much larger than that of APM. APM really just did basic power management tasks, ACPI is a superset of APM, Wikipedia has more.

I would recommend using ACPI it's more modern, and probably less buggy.

But, in old systems, if you can not power off the system, disable ACPI and use only APM. It works.
