You need to find the place where you can change de boot sequence.

You need to be able to boot from your CD/DVD driver to be able to boot your Gentoo CD.

Also, you should use the latest Gentoo minimal CD, we are now using the 2007.0 and the 2008.0 is beta right now.

ok ive got it working

sort of

i got it to boot

but when its gone through a long screen checking things and saying ok if they are, i come to a graphical screen which has a watch as the mouse

it loads for awhile then it stops everything and the mouse freezes

anyone know what my problem may be??

regards Slavik

(edit: ok after awhile it comes up wuth dialog welcoming me to the liveCD thing, and i type installer in and before i hit enter the screen goes back to the graphic and stays there doing nothing... this happens every time)

Is there a specific reason why you want to have windows me on that system??? If it's a spare system why would you not want to dedicate Gentoo to it?

well its an older system and ive only just got the gentoo cd

its a copy version, but i want to rid the pc of ME and have only gentoo

(or ubuntu if i can get it to work)

i got pretty far on my own, i just dont know why the dialog screen comes up for 10 seconds then goes to the graphical desktop thing before freezing all the time...

might be my lack of knowlege of installing OS

brun the install cd. Print out the handbook (or the first pages to get you started). And just install gentoo the way it was supposed to be installed. Takes some time the first time but it is the best way :)

Hi _Slavik_,
Use rescuecd instead.
