postgres 8.3.x

hello all.

does anyone know why postgres 8.3 is still masked in /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask ?

has anyone managed to unmask it and get it running?

any ideas/thoughts appreciated.

I was able to pg_dump all my databases, upgrade it, and re-import.

I did however find some packages (powerdns comes to mind) that would not compile against it.

For anyone stumbling on this thread, I got powerdns to compile. The solution was to fix a symlink as described in https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=194350
