Yes, and Snapshot freezes and doc updates are still 'in progress', which means releng are still way off schedule, again.

Wrong. It means that the release schedule page itself isn't up to date. Not that the actual important release procedures are behind.

I already created and sent in the final docs in time for my deadline, and as far as I know release is still mostly on-track according to the tentative schedule outlined on the page. If it varies by a few days either way, it doesn't really matter.

I realize you probably don't have many other ways of knowing, but please don't just throw out what you think is happening and pass it off as what's actually happening.

I had very good reason to believe that was the case. This only further highlights the *shrug* attitude of Gentoo's developers towards it's users. The lack of continuity in-between Gentoo infra. services, the lack of leadership and direction among the council and project leads, infighting, buggy/useless installer, and lack of updated information all leads to disillusioned users.

You can disagree with what I'm saying here, but that doesn't alter the fact that every Gentoo media release for the last few years have been lackluster at best, and very little tangible progress has been made, on the contrary, regressions and breakage has become the norm even for 'arch' keyword users.

Actually, release has slipped by much more than "just a few days", and I don't
think that matters. Gentoo doesn't have many developers, and things take as
long as they take. However, it really is very helpful to users if there's some
indication of what the expected timescale is, even though this timescale may
have to be updated pretty frequently as work progresses.

Until a few days ago the releng page had last been updated around 1 April,
and there was no clue anywhere as to the current project timescale. This
was disheartening. Now releng have shown an interest and updated their
user information, and even though they may well not meet their dates, at
least users can hope that if things change, they will be kept informed.
Really that's all users can expect.
