Hello ppl, please forgive my bad english

All alsa modules and drivers are okay, my sound is working and i can play musics fine in madplay .. but my problem is: why gnome is not recognizing any devices??

I try to go in System>Preferences>Volume Control , but i get this error: No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.

If i go to System>Preferences>Sound i get this:
http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2251/screenshotzg6.png
NO DEVICES?? WHY?

I installed gnome using this USE vars:
USE="-qt3 -qt4 -arts -kde X dbus gtk gnome hal avahi alsa"

Should i modify anything to get gnome recognizing my sound devices??

Hi,

Strange, according to documentation, gnome installation seems to be quite straightforward.

Would you please give us the output of 'lspci |grep -i audio' so we know which card we talk about?

Thanks

The output of lspci | grep -i audio :
00:02.7 Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] AC'97 Sound Controller (rev a0)

Sound is working, i watch some videos in youtube and listen some mp3 in madplay but the GNOME is not recognizing my sound devices ._.

If that's a desktop or laptop I'd change the profile to 'default/linux/x86/2008.0/desktop' and do 'emerge --sync && emerge -uDNav world', restart the system and see if it's better.
I'm not saying that will be better but that's maybe worth a try.

Looks like you need to emerge the complete gstreamer plugins, i.e. "emerge -av media-plugins/gst-plugins-meta"
