aynone know how to disable that new keyboard volume stuff that my internet navigator keyboard has. I want to use ACME instead, because I like it better, but I haven't found what excactly uses those keys in KDE now. also, there seems to have been som changes in window stuff since when I try to play Diablo 2 via winex now there is some buggy stuff!

when I move the mouse to the top of the screen it stops about an inch from the top and when I bring it to the right and bottom it gets stuck like, but it looks like its only the animation since it pops out on other places if I move it there. to the left its fine though... .:( anybody know anything about it?

Just from the chatter in this thread I understand there has been a complete rewrite of kwin. This could be the source of your problems.

I am thinking about radically changing the USE flags I use for the builds. In the past I have used minimalistic USE flags however I am beggining to think I should use maximilistic USE flags. Would this be OK by everyone. This way support for the most features is enabled. Let me know eh!

Ohhh this is sweeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttttttt :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

The new CVS binaries now have the ability to change the screen resolution on the fly :) Great stuff !!!

On the downside, KDM is still broken... oh well, it is from cvs anyway :)

Edit: Use any flags that you find useful. This is cvs build and I'm happy to get these builds, so no cmplaints from me :)

The last few builds have had it although somewhat buggy.

Ask and ye shall recieve

I've made a minor change to the script so that it attempts to resume the download if the file already exists.

Grab it here: kbin-installer-5e.sh

And I have posted the updated the script on my site.

Today I was wondering if it would be possible for this script to have an ebuild in portage. That way every time you emerge world --deep -upv you would have the latest version of the script. Just a thunk.

I really appreciate your work iamlarryboy. I am running KDE cvs from a few days back, and it rocks.

Now if I want to update, I just delete the binary files and old script, and then download the new one?

And I can run it while currently in KDE, correct?

Thanks.

yes, it was.. it's become much less buggy than a2 already, but the bugs are still getting kinked out. It was rewritten to become more freedesktop.org compliant.

PostPosted: Wed Oct 01, 2003 4:30 pm    Post subject: vimpart issues w/ cvs Reply with quote

Hello!

One of the most important features for me is the ability to use vim almost
ubiquiitously within kde via the new vimpart ( in kdeaddons ). However,
over the past two alpha builds ( and now even from the latest "live-cvs"
ebuilds from http://dev.gentoo.org/~caleb/kde-cvs.html ), I have been
completely unable to get it to work....

In the Control Center, under
KDE Components -> Vim Component Configuration -> Vim Executable
Selection, running the test always results in the following error:

"Test Failed!

Your Vim does not provide any GUI support. A GUI is required to use this
component. Upgrade your Vim's version or install GVim/KVim.

Your Vim lacks the Eval feature; it is highly recommended to have this
feature enabled. You may encounter problems without it."

This occurs with both gvim and kvim, which I have compiled and
recompiled a dozen times throughout both alphas and the latest live
cvs ( along with my vim-core ), and when testing with either the DCOP
and the Vim/X11 communication systems...

Anyone know what's going on? I haven't found any reference to an
'eval' configure option in the vim source. I had this working once before
a while ago, with kde 3.1 and a couple patches - and I don't recall doing
anything special to either kvim or gvim... I *really* want to get this to
work, it's one of my primary interests in running kde, as I'm such a vim
fanatic.

Thanks!

( I think I'll also post this as a brand new top level topic, hope that's ok )

I would appreciate it if you add a gphoto2 USE flag; this will enable the camera:/ ioslave. Having thumbnail previews of photos on my digicam is super-nice!

Jeff, the script is wrong, it points to 0929 builds rather than 1001 builds

Interesting effect of the USE flags.
The install also emerged:
nas
unixODBC

unixODBC failed due to missing qtmultilineedit.h.

I think it's qmultilineedit.h. I had to modify qmlined.h to get unixODBC installed.

I just injected unixODBC, I'm not using it anyway :0

But it continues to emerge stuff:
samba
sane

I guess this is going to be a looooong install :)

Oh, Jeff, don't be ashamed, it was easy to fix :)

Jeff,

I think the addition of those USE flags seriously borked the installation of the binaries.

It tries to emerge numerous ebuilds that I really don't need, like pilot-link which fails miserably :)

At the moment I have given up on getting the latest build to install, I simply don't have the time to play around with it and fix all the dependecy builds that fails. Sorry...

Nice work! Find a minor error though, you need to either delete the md5 file before d/ling, or datestamp it. I think the latter is the best option personaly

you would still have to manually d/l the file. one of portage's problems atm IMO is that a package cannot prevent md5 checking or even specify a site to pull the md5 from. this prevents emergeing dynamic content, such as a link to nightly builds. hopefully this will be resolved soon. ive done some portage hacking (ill post my patches at some point ), but i think this mabey a touch too much for me for now. mabey this weekend ill get some time. That will help me keep my mind off of food on monday! :D

Hmm, just noticed this, but your 29092003 build has FAR less screensavers than the "official" 3.2 builds. Ill let you know about the 01102003 builds soon. mabey its just a use flag thing.

{edit} no dice. still missen my fractals!
