You are the man! This was one of the main issues with KDE for me. How did you know what to do?

I'm diggen the new tab-style in Konsole. Anyone know how i can move it bake to the top? That makes more sence to me.

Also i've noted that konq is getting progressivly more unstable  Shouldn't the opisite happen as it aproches release? Anyone else notice this.

Other that that, loven it.

THANKS OF THE BUILDS IAMLARRYBOY!!!! much faster than compiling on my pII400 lappy :D

Konsole: Settings -> Tabbar -> Top

It's annoying that with the new tab style text flickers when the system bell sounds. It didn't with the old one.

Thanks man. that is even more annoying for me as it displays the co-ords on mine. Im sure that will be fixed soon.

On onother note, anyone check-out the new kate? It is becomeing a serious IDE. it is very slick. Make sure you go through the all the settings and plugins. save frequently though, it is still alpha!

Hi,

I got kdebase compiled (had to fix some things on my on, but it works). Now I've got one (annoying) problem:
The font konsole uses is not anti-aliased. Now that would be no problem, I just wanted to see the new features and then go back to 3.1.4 (well, it's slotted). But the font in my old (3.1.4) konsole is now broken, too.
Looks very ugly, really ;-)

Does anyone know how to fix that? I would be very grateful.

David

I'm having a problem with kopete. It starts fine and I'm able to connect to MSN, Yahoo and Jabber. I can send and receive messeges, except that the received messages don't get displayed. I can see the "whoever is typing a message..." in the status bar, but the chat window stays completely blank; it doesn't even display outgoing messages. I recompiled kdenetwork, but it didn't fix the problem. Anyone have this problem too?

I had this problem too. Problem was that all the colors were set to white. Changing that fixed it for me.

The font colors are ok: white bg, black fg. The problem is something else. I've been forced to use Gaim in the meantime.

Hey everybody I am back. I am glad to see that a workarrounc has been found for kdm. I am emerging xscreensaver right now. yes konqueror is unstable. yes i broke the script (again). I will update the script with the next builds. I should have builds ready by tommorrow as long as there are no compile time bugs.

ps: the hunt was a sucess in case anyone is interested.

Thanks for the builds!
<rant>I was hoping some annoying bugs will be resolved, but alas...
1) Courier font is messed up - anyone know how to turn it off completely? X refuses to start if I remove the directory it's in from XF86Cconfig. I've had this bug since qt-3.2.1

2) Flash and Java don't work in Konqueror. I get this for nspluginviewer:
Code:
nspluginviewer: ERROR: ERROR 3: couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'javascript'.
Java applets cause X to tie up the CPU.
Code:
16.10.2003 19:16:39 java.util.prefs.FileSystemPreferences$3 run
WARNING: Could not create system preferences directory. System preferences are unusable.

3) KWin doesn't like XMMS 1.2.8 - making the playlist taller doesn't work.
</rant>

Should I report these bugs, or wait until at least beta1 is out? Really annoying.

How are you able to compile? I've been trying to compile kdebase from CVS, and I keep getting the "Kate::Document::defaultEncoding" error. Are you somehow skipping over Kate??

Hey sorry for the short post but I was in a hurry. With these new builds KDM "should" work. If not try the workaround. I emerged xscreensaver so there are many more of those. Finally the script should work now. I really gotta stop breaking it. A big thanks as always goes out to ForumSlacker for fixing my blunder.

If anyone has any incling of what THE HELL is going on with fonts and X please let me know. All I know is I clicked a bunch of nice widgets in the KDE control panel and fonts look OK now. The X guys really need to make this whole font thing simpler.

I have seen this bug. All I know is that it used to work. If there are any Ideas as to where the problem may lie please let me know. I hate having to start up the beast that is mozilla.

xmms works fine for me (v. 1.2.7)

It could just be my builds. I wouldn't want to flood the bug tracker with non existant bugs.

All of this last build compiled perfectly for me. It could be your USE flags.

The new build works great here. Kate and kwrite seem to work fine and Kdm is finally back working here :D.
I do have a couple of ongoing problems I've had with these builds (since mid sept.)
1. GL screensavers will run fine at first and then lock-up after about 20-30 minutes. Mouse/keyboard movement will bring the screen back to life.
2. XMMS segfaults with the arts plugin. I'm not sure if this is XMMS or KDE. Xmms plays fine using alsa or oss, but will not use arts (for me this means system sounds or xmms - not both)
I honestly can't say whether these issues are a result of using Kde from cvs or not but maybe someone else has noticed this.

Thanks again
