hi i have installed gentoo on my box two days ago, everithing works fine, but today when i try to emerge something i have slow connection to distfiles.gentoo.org it download just 2-5 kbps and i have 200kbps download, is this problem somewhere on my side, or is something wrog with gentoo server?

Welcome to Gentoo.
The answer to your question depends where you are compared to distfiles.gentoo.org, which is located in the USA.
You should emerge mirrorselect and speed test the gentoo mirrors from where you are.
Given the proper options, it will put the say the 10 fastest ones for you in /etc/make.conf
Read its man page after its installed.
Its also worth choosing the correct rsync rotation server for your location.

i have tried install mirrorselect befor i asked this, but it wanted to install 4 packages and i didin't want to wait 24 hours to install its all, but in make.conf.example i found what i need to change to get mirror work, thanks |
