Shorewall and Freenode

I am using shorewall. For getting on the IRC network I use Chatzilla, in which I have no problems. But when trying to connect to the freenode network, shorewall keeps me from doing so. How can I make it to where I don't have to make shorewall stop to get on the freenode network?

Forward port 8001 to your PC and set your irc client to use 8001, not the default of 6667.
This works around some router issues.
