-rw-r--r--  1 paul users 878878720 May 24 18:30 livecd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2.iso

i downloaded it approx an hour ago from the link on http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/where.xml takes me to eg

http://gentoo.osuosl.org//releases/x86/2008.0_beta2/livecd/livecd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2.iso which is 838MB

another attempt, the link takes me to http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/pub/gentoo//releases/x86/2008.0_beta2/livecd/livecd-i686-installer-2008.0_beta2.iso which is also 838 MB

thecooptoo,

You need the one with -r1 in its name. Like this Other than not fitting on a CD, the big image works if you put it on a DVD

They are both on UK mirrors too

i downloaded the beta2_r1 iso (703 MB and a bit) and burnt it.
On booting from it i get a grub menu and then a load of messages
/lib/modules/2.6.24-gentoo-r5/modules.dep - no such file

i get to a command line , but have no network cards ( ifconfig -a just shows lo) a message saying there is no ALSA and X fails to start

is something missing from the liveCD ?

thecooptoo,

There is a tracker bug in bugzilla ... if your issue is not there, please add it.

With modules.dep missing, no modules will auto load as modprobe will fail.
insmod will still work but thats a PITA.

thecooptoo,

Get a binary coreutils from tinderbox.dev.gentoo.org to suit your install.
Put it in your /
untar it there with the p option
Ignore the extra garbage at end warning.

You should be deb0rked.

Rebuild your own coreutils
