I wanna to come back to gentoo (I actually using fedora and hating it a lot!)
but, once 2008.0 is not released I'm in doubt. What may I do: Install 2007.0, 2008_b2 or wait for 2008.0?
thanks.

PS.: why still 2008.0 Release Schedule not updated?

Using the 2008 beta2 is completely safe. Since Gentoo is essentially versionless (meaning all updating is done through Portage), no matter which version you choose, you'll still have to update to the latest patches and fixes. Getting the latest "version" will just save you lots of time and work because most of those patches and fixes are included in the most recent version. You'll still have to update the packages that were released after the beta was released, though.

It all boils down to how current you want your system to be. Even though it's called "beta2," that's basically just a tag to show that the install process is still being tested. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's unstable as you'll still be getting all the essentials of a Gentoo system.

You don't have to use 2008_b2, 2007 or 2008 to install gentoo. You just need a livecd with a kernel which can handle your hardware (especially net and hard disks). It may be knoppix, ubuntu livecd, sysrescd (I recommend this one) or a livecd created by gentoo dev (2008_b2 or whatever). As Maliwik said, gentoo is versionless - you install your system once, then just update everything from it.

Thank you guys!
I just discoveryed that I can't use other distro cause Gentoo is so configurable and simple to manage that the others one look slow, configurableless, patched (like Windows).
So, I'm going right now to download the gentoo net-install cd (or look to the indication above).

thanks a lot!

EDIT: change of plans: I'll download the sysresccd and burn on a normal cd (I used to use a recordable one).
Thank for the double hint ^^
