I hope it's ok to post here. I have made a request for a multi distro Powerpc ports section in other OS talk on the Ubuntu forum.
If any Gentoo Powerpc user would like to comment add ideas thoughts etc please do so by following the Link.

I stopped paying any attention to ubuntu when ppc support was dropped. Preferred debian or suse anyway. Is there some reason ubuntu is supporting ppc again? |

Ubuntu only officially supports ppc on it's old LTS version 6.06 I think. Ubuntu 8.04 is a community supported version like many other distros.
The idea is about a port or harbor for ALL powerpc distros to share knowledge on Powerppc. I myself prefer Debian on my main system but have other Powerpc distros on another machine. I had an "install fest" including Archppc, debian, Fedora, Slackintosh, Suse, Yellowdog, Ubuntu and I'm still working on Gentoo. I tried twice but am afraid I failed to sort it out. Next week I have another go I don't mind figuring out an install it's not like you have to do it very often. It has been a very informative and pleasant learning experience and something I recommend to any Powerpc user with a spare box. |
