|
|
I would like to be able to set my DPI, because the detected defaults have different values for horizontal and vertical and fonts get distorted. So I set the DisplaySize in xorg.conf:
Code: |
Section "Monitor"
DisplaySize 338 270 # We want (DPI = 96,96)
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "neovo"
ModelName "F-417"
HorizSync 24-80
VertRefresh 50-75
Modeline "1280x1024_60.00" 108.88 1280 1360 1496 1712 1024 1025 1028 1060 -HSync +Vsync
Option "DPMS" "true"
EndSection
|
According to xdpyinfo everything is good:
Code: |
screen #0:
print screen: no
dimensions: 1280x1024 pixels (338x270 millimeters)
resolution: 96x96 dots per inch
depths (7): 24, 1, 4, 8, 15, 16, 32
|
But my fonts are still distorted so I check /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Code: |
(II) intel(0): Output VGA connected
(II) intel(0): Output VGA using initial mode 1280x1024
(II) intel(0): detected 128 kB GTT.
(II) intel(0): detected 32636 kB stolen memory.
(==) intel(0): video overlay key set to 0x101fe
(==) intel(0): Will not try to enable page flipping
(==) intel(0): Triple buffering disabled
(==) intel(0): Using gamma correction (1.0, 1.0, 1.0)
(**) intel(0): Display dimensions: (340, 270) mm
(**) intel(0): DPI set to (95, 120)
|
Why? This is on my desktop, using the stable version (1.3.0.0-r5) of xorg-server and the intel driver (2.1.1). On my laptop I use the proprietary ATi driver but I tried with the opensource radeon driver and get the same: xdpyinfo correct, but settings get ignored. How can this be solved? _________________ "The hunt is sweeter then the kill."

You could try adding the following lines (to Section "Monitor").
Code: | Option "UseEdidDpi" "false"
Option "Dpi" "96 x 96" |

These options are specific to the nVidia proprietary drivers and will not help my case. _________________ "The hunt is sweeter then the kill."

If you use KDM, modify the /usr/kde/3.5/share/config/kdm/kdmrc file and add -dpi 96 at the end of the line ServerCmd=/usr/bin/X -br. _________________ Gentoo ~AMD64

Thanks! That worked. _________________ "The hunt is sweeter then the kill."
