I'm on ~amd64 and dovecot-1.1_rc8 (and rc6) refuse to answer the call with "connection refused" when trying to get mail with thunderbird. I'm using it as a pop3 server. Dovecot-1.0.14 is still working fine. Log files are not giving any help. Any ideas? Thanks,
Fred

I don't believe the log files aren't helping...
When you fire up DC have you checked to see if it's starting up correctly ?
or even try telneting to the port to see if DC answers. I suspect that the config files have changed
over the version upgrade so it's either not firing up right or it doesn't know how to authenticate
clients connecting to it.
Try setting all the debugging stuff on in the config files, that's always helped me in the past.

Many thanks for the suggestions. Both lsof -ni 110, and ssh -p 110 localhost, confirmed that pop3 was not working. A check of dovecot.conf revealed that somehow my usual method of updating configuration files had failed to include the pop3 stuff. I have no idea why. Anyway the latest dovecot is working fine for me now. |
