PostPosted: Sat Dec 29, 2007 5:30 am    Post subject: audacious-plugins wont compile Reply with quote

I have been battling audacious for a while and I cant figure out why I cant get audacious-plugins to install. I have played around with use flags and stuff, but i cant get it past the point of where it compiles the backround-alsa plugin. I looked online but havent seen anything relevant to my issue here so I thought I'd ask. Any suggestions would be very appreciated, since I dont want to install kde-base just to listen to internet radio via amarok. (i use XFCE4)

My make.conf for Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz:

Code:

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
# This should not be changed unless you know exactly what you are doing.  You
# should probably be using a different stage, instead.
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
#MAKEOPTS="j2"
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"
AUTOCLEAN="yes"
USE="-* ~x86 X aim alsa apache2 avi bash-completion cdparanoia cdr dbus evo firefox ftp gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gtk java jpeg mmx mad mozilla mp3 mpeg msn ncurses nptl nptlonly nsplugin openal opengl oss png pam pdf python quicktime readline samba sdl sse truetype tcpd unicode usb vorbis xml xorg xv yahoo wmv"
VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia nv"
INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse"

The emerge output:

Code:

is anyone else having this trouble?? I'm using the latest gentoo desktop profile, not sure what other stuff i can add to help diagnose this issue. I have alsa compiled into my kernel, i think version is 2.6.19, but since im not at the machine ATM i cant verify..

Thanks!

I've got the same problem.
Trying to compile another kernel, maybe it'll solve it.

Ok, try recompiling alsa-libs with the "midi" useflag set. worked for me.

Just tried that after a fresh intallation, and still having the same issues. I added midi to use flags and emerge -Davu --newuse world and it rebuilt alsa lib as well as alsa-utils. I find it strange that we are only two ppl having this issue in about half a year, which leads me to believe i have something else misconfigured but I dont know where to start looking.

Playing around with it i see it is searching for a header file. It compiles other pluginsfine but then errors out on the alsa-pcm plugin. OSS was the last plugin to sucessfully compile. ALSA is compiled in to the kernel with oss and oss-pcm support, and sound works fine with mpg123 so im sure alsa and pcm are functional.

Something is wrong with your alsa-lib,
cause this is the package that provides alsa/pcm_plugin.h.

Post what 'emerge -1pv alsa-lib' prints.

I had a very similar problem (compilation hang on alsa) with audacious-plugins-1.4.5, I solved it adding dmix to ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS in /etc/make.conf
