Hi, all...
Once, again, what should be s straightforward upgrade of apache becomes a complicated issue: Code: |
emerge -avuDN world
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild U ] www-servers/apache-2.2.8-r3 [2.2.8] USE="ldap ssl -debug -doc (-selinux) -sni -static -suexec -threads" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic auth_digest authn_anon authn_dbd authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock dbd deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers ident imagemap include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation proxy proxy_ajp proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias -asis -authn_alias -cern_meta -charset_lite -dumpio -log_forensic -proxy_ftp -substitute% -version" APACHE2_MPMS="-event -itk -peruser -prefork -worker" 59 kB
Total: 1 package (1 upgrade), Size of downloads: 59 kB
!!! The following installed packages are masked:
- x11-misc/makedepend-1.0.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-apps/xdm-1.1.4 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-themes/xcursor-themes-1.0.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-apps/xcursorgen-1.0.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-libs/libXTrap-1.0.0 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-libs/liboldX-1.0.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-libs/libXevie-1.0.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-apps/sessreg-1.0.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-themes/gentoo-xcursors-0.3.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-libs/libXvMC-1.0.4 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- app-doc/xorg-sgml-doctools-1.2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
- x11-libs/libXprintAppUtil-1.0.1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)
|
I suppose I can add each of these dependencies to /etc/portage/package.keywords and accomplish this upgrade, but is there something fundamentally wrong with my system, causing this effort to be necessary?
Does anyone have any thoughts about this??

Hi.
Have you tried running emerge -uDpvtN world? Quite a few of those are not apache deps.
From that snippet, you should be running an arch system. Have you added those packages to /etc/portage/package.keywords? _________________ Jorge.

I get the same output when I run : Code: | # emerge -uDpvtN world
These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

Is it because I'm running an arch system that I must manually add all those those packages to /etc/portage/package.keywords?

Sorry for the long delay in the reply.
The above seems to show that those errors are not preventing the update of apache.
If you added those packages to /etc/portage/package.keywords and those packages were removed from the tree, portage will revert to the last stable packages. _________________ Jorge.
