Salve, premetto che non ho il sistema molto aggiornato
Oggi ho fatto l'aggiornamento di firefox alla versione 2.0.0.14
tra le varie dipendenze si e' aggiornato anche dev-libs/expat-2.0.1
Quindi ho dato un
# revdep-rebuild -X --library libexpat.so.0
come consigliato dal warm

e poi un

senza risolvere nulla
qualche consiglio?

copiati la riga dove c'è
incollala in un terminale di root, aggiungendo l'uguale davanti a gnome-desktop.
dai invio
Fine.
sul perchè revdep non costruisca la riga corretta non ne ho idea, probabilmente gioverebbe un bugreport

quoto, semmai prova ad invertire le opzioni (--library -X), se non funziona allora prova con -- -u . Con -X non dovrebbe proprio usare le versioni dei pacchetti.

ho scoperto che questo problema riguardo libexpat.so.0 l'hanno avuto in molti ma dall'inglese nn si riesce a capire bene come abbiano risolto

cmq. con
# emerge --oneshot gnome-desktop-2.20.3
ho scoperto che il primo problema era in dev-perl/XML-Parser mancante
ho ridato un
# revdep-rebuild -X --library libexpat.so.0
che si e' bloccato sull' emerge --oneshot di altri numerosi ebuilds che adesso non ricordo.
Gli ho aggiornati tutti con l'ultima versione in portage e adesso revdep si blocca su app-admin/gnome-system-tools-2.14.0

e adesso sto aspettando che finisca di nuovo

Sei tu che stai facendo un pò di confusione e sbagli a lanciare revdep-rebuild, passandogli in modo errato i parametri.
Prova a seguire i consigli di Onip o djinnz.

si scusami hai ragione, cmq. l'ho fatto ed emerge si blocca sempre su questa maledetta libexpat.so.0
probabilmente formatto tutto e reinstallo una distribuzione binaria xche' per lavoro purtroppo non ho piu' tempo da dedicare a gentoo

no forse non hai colto, ma non puoi emergere libexpat
al massimo puoi emergere il pacchetto che lo contiene e non è cmq quella la soluzione, perché devi emergere i pacchetti che hanno come "dipendenza" libexpat, e revdep-rebuild serve proprio a trovare questi pacchetti....

Il fatto che tra i post sticky nel forum italiano ce ne sia uno dal titolo Upgrade openssl/gcc/glibc/linux-headers/java-config/expat non ti ha suggerito nulla?
Al suo interno ci sono direttamente i link ad alcuni thread, tra cui uno di 6 (sei) pagine in italiano con dal titolo problemi durante l'upgrade di expat.

in realtà la stranezza sta in questo. Non capisco perché revdep-rebuild non mette il segno = e perché si ostini a prendere i pacchetti per versione nonostante il -X. Forse un emerge -1 gentoolkit potrebbe risolvere il problema.
