|
|
Hi guys, I'm using a Broadcom 4311 wifi card and after having absolutely no problems connecting to my wireless router, I'm all of a sudden getting problems connecting to it.
Code: |
# dhcpcd wlan0
err, wlan0: timed out
warn, wlan0: using IPV4LL address 169.254.53.111
|
However, other computers on my network can connect to this router wirelessly without problem. The real strange thing is, though, that my laptop can connect to other wireless routers without problem... I get no problem getting an IP from, say, my neighbor's wireless router.
Here is a dmesg when I try to connect to my own router, though:
Code: |
# dmesg | tail
b43-phy0: Loading firmware version 410.2160 (2007-05-26 15:32:10)
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
wlan0: Initial auth_alg=0
wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:17:3f:c1:e0:87
wlan0: RX authentication from 00:17:3f:c1:e0:87 (alg=0 transaction=2 status=0)
wlan0: authenticated
wlan0: associate with AP 00:17:3f:c1:e0:87
wlan0: associate with AP 00:17:3f:c1:e0:87
wlan0: associate with AP 00:17:3f:c1:e0:87
wlan0: association with AP 00:17:3f:c1:e0:87 timed out
|
Any ideas as to what is going wrong? Is there some log I should be checking? Also another thing: "# iwlist wlan0 scan" picks up my router (amongst others). |

What was the last thing you changed before things stopped working? Did you experience a power outage or other incomplete shutdown?
Blessed be!

Yes, there have been severe thunderstorms and the power went out several times...
Besides that, there weren't any changes or incomplete shutdowns. |

In that case, you might want to reemerge the packages in question. Incomplete shutdowns can mean severely corrupted files. That's one of the many reasons I shut down my computers when it's stormy. Texas thunderstorms are notorious for claiming unprotected (and or running) electronic devices. And I'd hate to have the power go out in the middle of doing something important.
Blessed be!

There weren't any incomplete shutdowns.
Also there is nothing to re-emerge. What is in question here is the b43 module or the router.
I have tried rebooting the router with no luck.
Just for clarification: (1) my laptop can connect to other wireless routers, (2) my laptop cannot connect to my own wireless router, (3) other (Windows) computers can connect to my wireless router, (4) my laptop can connect to other wireless routers in the neighborhood. |
