I installed gentoo 2007.0 using this doc: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86+raid+lvm2-quickinstall.xml and I can't seems to shutdown properly. I always get this: "mdadm: fail to stop array /dev/md3: device or ressources bus"
It's bugging me because /dev/md3 is my root filesystem (XFS) and I hate bogus shutdown or startup. Any quick suggestions?
/dev/md1: /boot (raid 1, ext2)
/dev/md3: / (raid 0, xfs)
no lvm2 at all |

I've only used mdadm once and very briefly, but I don't recall having to stop the arrays before shutting down. As long as init remounts the volumes read-only you shouldn't need to worry.
I'm a little confused though, does the system try to stop the arrays before when you run halt, or are you trying to stop them yourself? |

It's giving me this on halt.
I looked around a bit and found that it's normal behavior since mdadm can't stop the array in which it resides (in this case /dev/md3). However I'm not sure the partition is safely unmounted and/or how to get rid of this warning (pipe to /dev/null... but how?). Any suggestions? |

Code: | # rm /lib/rcscripts/addons/raid* |
This suggestion applies to baselayout-1 users.
Upgrading to baselayout-2 is another way to get rid of this error message. |
