I use a WebDAV-based storage my ISP gives away for free. It works OK with davfs in principle, except for one issue:
Whenever I use it, it basically (I don't know how to explain that) 'freezes' the application that accesses it. This goes unnoticed as long as e.g. nautilus opens a window and lists the files. But as soon as I transfer a larger file to the WebDAV-Server, the whole gnome desktop freezes - well, actually I think it's nautilus that's dead.
Something similar happens when I copy from the command line:
I start copying, see that the network is busy, switch to another terminal and make the mistake to do a 'ls' of the directory I am copying to (which is the one on the server). Not a chance. dead.
It almost seems like davfs could only handle one thing at a time and as long as it's busy doing it, it blocks everything else.
Is this a known behavior? Or am I doing something wrong? Is it a problem on the server side? Or something I can configure? |
