I have a windows xp desktop computer that has wireless connection. Can i use a crossover cable to connect to the internet on my laptop computer with Gentoo?

I've done something similar before.... enabling ICS, and setting that computer as a router in the gentoo /etc/conf.d/net should work.

However, also consider buying a WRT54GL or so, popping openwrt on there, setting it up as a client, and putting both systems behind that.
