(not really)

I am sorry, but i am really new to linux and I am having a rough time geting things working. However, I should say that Gentoo has thus far been the best flavor i have used. Portage is god. The last time i asked for help on these forums i was berated and told that i was not ready for linux. Please be patient with me.

I can not access my cd-rom. It is not in the /mnt folder, nor can i access the data on CDs. I do not know where to start. My kernel had cd-rom support built into the kernel, and I do not have any cd-rom modules.

the brand of the CD-Rom is "Lite-On" The drive works under gentoo live cd and windows. Also, I am using a biostar mn7cdp nforce2 board. Everything is running fine except the CD-rom and the USB.

please please help

do you have something like this in you /etc/fstab?

Code:
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0   /mnt/cdrom  auto     noauto   0 0

try searching for "mount cdrom fstab" :-)

Please do not use misleading titles to get readers. I've changed it to something more relevant.

I doubt he has even mounted his CDROM drive... This is UNIX! Automounting is optional!

Clearly, he needs a course in UNIX Design & Concepts.
