I'm pretty sure this is some kind of hilarious X/hal/evdev problem, but I'm not sure how it occurs. I have a Playstation 2 joypad converter that provides two USB HID interfaces. When in X no events come when opening /dev/input/js0 or scanning the demands in SDL, and all the joystick axes are zero. If I change to one of the virtual terminals, it works fine.

I'm running unstable so I assume it's something to do with the evdev weirdness that occurred a little while ago, but I have no idea how to fix it. In X I'm running KDE 3.5.9.
