Hello,
When I start gnome it is looking for '/dev/sound/mixer' . I have disabled sound server at startup but it does not seem to make any difference?
Cheers

Basically whether you start gnome sound server or not, you might notice you have this little sound control in the top right corner on your pannel, that loads by default. It uses that device, so whenever starting, it searches for it and obviously does not find it. _________________ "What??!! You went over my helmet??" |

Thanks,
Is there a way to stop this happening. I have not seen this sound control load by default in Gnome before.

I noticed this recently as well. I'm suspecting something with an updated /etc/devfsd.conf, but I haven't had a chance to investigate it yet. |

Yeah, now I have a sneaking suspision that its devfs stuff too.... It gives me problems on Alsa shutdown, saying that it cant find bunch of modules that it doesnt really need, like /dev/snd/controlC31 ..... I mean, yeah, it has controlC0 in there , but I dont think controlC31 is really necessary. I mean, I dont even see where it actually addresses that module. _________________ "What??!!
