problems emerging gnome SOLVED

When emerging gdm, on the gtk-libs dependency, I am getting an error that says "cairo needs USE flag X" - I have checked my /etc/make.conf and the USE flag of X is in the list. I can't seem to get it to work - i have removed it, env-update, readded, env-update, I haven't changed my default profile link - not sure what to do....please help, thanks. Somewhat experienced w/ linux.....1 year of classes in college for linux administration, but still noobie-ish

Apparently after changing a USE flag you must recompile the whole gdm package, wouldn't let me resume emerge --depclean and re-emerged and it works now. Thanks.
