I am using the nvidia drivers for xfree, and have enabled the option:" Option "UseEdidFreqs" "1"" so the nvidia driver reads the hsync and vsync values from the monitor itself, this works without a glitch in standard xfree (2d), the refresh rates are great, and autodetected, btu when i switch to fullscreen 3d (using the nvidia glx) the refresh rates adefault back to the values specified in /etc/X11/XFconfig - this sucks... So: Does anyone know a method (or utility) of reading the EDID of the monitor directly?

Or does anyone know a method of only using the values scanned by the nvidia driver...

Hi
(emerge -s edid)
Hope app-misc/read-edid is what you require.
Had it installed. Never used it before.
Tried it ...this worked I think ?
# /usr/sbin/get-edid | /usr/sbin/parse-edid

Look's like xfree auto-selected best settings for mode I set!
(in /var/log/XFree86.0.log a long list of default modes...)
