Well i put this thread here, hope is the right place to do it!

Well, i've heard you can make Microsoft Office 2007 work on Gentoo with Wine, so the question is, ¿Does any of you made it work already with Wine or such?

If so, will linux recognize my .pst file from Outlook 2007? or i should import it with thunderbird and use it's own format?

This is an important issue for me since i use my PC for work and i have all my work mails on a PST, i use a pop account for work.

I thank in advance all the info, hopes and help you can give me on this matter.

thanks.

A new version of Wine just came out yesterday (1.1.1) and one of the fixes was for the installer of Office 2007. I haven't tried it yet because for some reason the latest version hasn't hit portage yet.

applications run in wine sometimes run slower, id try to stick with thunderbird if you can, also wine may or may not work correctly with Office 2007 (check the app db links given to see how well it does).

I'm just used to seeing new versions of wine in Portage the day it comes out. :P

Hi there!

Well, once i'm finished installing Gentoo i'll get down to business with office 2007 and wine, and yeah, i'll stick with thunderbird, i already imported my pst into it and back up my folders.

Thanks for the info.
