xawtv wont record

Hi.

Been trying to record from tv with xawtv, but nothing happens when I press Start/Stop recording. I have tried this in other distros and they have worked. Am I missing something? Trying to record with mjpeg, but none of the others work either.

Any suggestions?

Everything that I have tried on xawtv has worked fine, just not recording. It appears as if pressing record buttong just sends whatever command to /dev/null and does nothing.

Still nothing after recompiling several times. Ran out of ideas already. I don't get why it's not recording no matter what format I choose.

Not a solution to your problem, but you still might be interested:
I use mplayer (mencoder) to record from my TV card. Others use MythTV. Check out /usr/portage/media-tv for a few tv apps.

Guess I should try it out, now i tried running xawtv thru aterm and when I press Start/Stop Recording, it says "grabbing: not supported." Been used to using xawtv everytime before. Old habits die hard.

I resolved the problem, everything works now by using xawtv -noxv. Might remove the XV in my USE flags but oh well, it is working now.
