I would really appreciate some help and advise on how to install a Gentoo server on a Zonbu Mini device? I bought a Zonbu mini and want to turn it into our home server now and if you have some tips I would very much appreciate it.
I would like to use it as our web server and iTunes server i.e network storage (prob attaching an external USB hard drive). I have Apple Remote Desktop, so it would be great if I can access the headless Zonbu using that too, is that possible? |

If it is, given the indicated presence of portage and access to root privileges, apparently via sudo, modifying the software installed on the system should not be difficult. Just bear the hardware specifications in mind when configuring the system.

Using distcc could help to build packages more rapidly, another option being using a package server when possible.

I know that Zonbu is based on Gentoo but I seem to have stuffed up (tried DreamLinux but has issues) the entire CompactFlash and need to start from scratch anyway, so I thought I'd just skip the whole Zonbu stuff and only install the basic Gentoo and packages I need.
I have a CompactFlash reader and was thinking about booting my MacBook using the latest LiveCD but I don't know how to install to the CompactFlash. Does the LiveCD recognise the CompactFlash Card? |
