Then the system freezes...
This happens to me when trying to run hdparm -tT and sometimes when running mke2fs (it actually worked once). My specs: dual pentium2 233's, 4 old SCSI hard drives, one SCSI cd drive. Whys it doing this?

it was bad RAM. i ran memtest and it failed almost all the tests |
